Acevedo shared that the staff starts the day with meditation to ensure that everyone is re-centered and prepared to provide service to the guests at their highest level.
I recently had the opportunity to experience NUUP Spa myself, and it was nothing short of amazing. In fact, my first treatment was so good, I went back for a second treatment on another day during my stay!

I enjoyed two different holistic treatments during my time at NUUP Spa Playa Mujeres. I noticed that as soon as you enter the facility the connection starts right away. You are warmly greeted by staff and escorted to a comfortable seating area. You are offered water, tea or coffee while you await your treatment.
Once you enter the locker room area, you have a personal guide with you the entire time throughout your hydrotherapy circuit. After you finish the hydrotherapy session and it is time for your treatment, your therapist walks side by side with you (rather than in front of you) with a small hand placed on your back to enhance the connection that was started when you entered the spa. This is a small but major change that can help guests become more comfortable with connecting with their therapist.

When you enter your treatment room, you are not rushed to the massage table. You are gently asked to have a seat while the therapist gets to know you and your preferences. The therapist also goes into detail about your treatment and the steps. Before you have even started your treatment you now have a strong connection with your therapist due to all of the intentional steps taken beforehand by the staff.
I thoroughly enjoyed both of my holistic treatments at NUUP Spa which included:
- Mexican Massage: An exclusive signature massage experience that can only be found at ATELIER Playa Mujeres. This treatment is intended to melt away the tension of your muscles. The Mexican Massage combines a series of stretches using a Mexican rebozo (cloth) and neuro-sedative massage techniques. The NUUP Spa therapists lean on their cultural roots and knowledge from their elders to use locally sourced natural herbs as well as lemons throughout the massage experience to cleanse the negative energy from your body. At the conclusion of the treatment, you are swaddled and swayed like a baby while being stretched. The treatment invigorated me with clean positive energy and was a rebirth for my mind, body and soul.
- Better Together (couple’s option): A signature massage experience intended for couples to relax and reconnect. The experience begins with a sweet and seductive chocolate feet exfoliation and reflexology as you sit next to your mate in a comfortable lounge chair. Next the massages begin as the therapists use organic body butter throughout the treatment leaving the skin romantically soft. The massage is accompanied by a rhythmical lomi lomi method that is synced to calming music. The Better Together experience is an excellent choice for couples who wish to improve their physical, emotional and spiritual state while also enhancing the romance and connection during their spa experience. At the conclusion of the treatment, the couple is led to a hydrotherapy pool where chocolate covered strawberries and glasses of sparkling wine await.
